Random lines on monitor

Hey,

I have a r9 290 tri-x and a 1440P monitor hooked up via DisplayPort.

I have this weird problem where random 1 pixel horizontal lines wil appear and disappear on my monitor, so far only in windows and not on the boot screen. It usually only happens at the desktop page but sometimes when im playing WoW it also happens.

I have a 2 display setup, the smaller one is hooked up with DVI and does not have this problem. It's set to Extend displays.

Update:

The displayport has failed alltogether it gave some kind of warning about either the cable being faulty or it not being able to support resolutions before it died. Is the problem my GPU, cable or monitor?

I would start with the cable just because its your cheapest option. Other than that try to test the monitor on another input if you have that option. Also try the display port on another monitor, again if you have the option. I had an old HP monitor with that problem but if was in bios as well. that ended up being the monitor but this kinda seems like a driver issue. If you can get it to work again make sure your updated to the latest GPU drivers after that mess around with the settings in your graphics control panel your might find something causing the issue.

LOL btw make sure the cable is inserted all the way on both the monitor and the gpu

I have my monitor hooked up with DVI now, it works fine though I cant get 1440p through DVI so that sucks.. The monitor doesn't get any input when I plug the displayport in, and yes it was plugged all the way in lol

ill get a new cable, that is the only cheap solution I know of now, is there any way to get 1440p with DVI or HDMI?

Sorry for late response (hopefully not to late) you can get 1440 through a dvi it just has to be a dual link dvi.

I gave up on the displayport, didn't feel like ordering a new cable.. I assumed I had dual link dvi, but I was wrong. I had a dual link one lying around that came with the monitor so I have it running on dvi now, works like a charm

Good to hear glad it wasn't the monitor. Im in the market for a 1440p just wondering if you liked what you had? And also how do you like that card with 1440p?
