I have some Adata 1333mhz ram from my uncle, its 4gb 1333mhz other than that, i'm positive about timings( it looks like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211548 but i can't read what it says on the sticker my guess is it is one stick of the pack of 2). It is a single stick and it currently is running at 667. What can i do to get it at the rated 1333? I'm using an msi 970a-g46 mobo w/ uefi bios if that helps but i've never messed with anything like this before so i'm at a loss of what to do.
I think that that's how all ram works. If you use a program to look at what the speed your ram is running at it will always be half because, for example, 1333 mhz is running 667 mhz through two channels. One channel in and one channel out. 1600 mhz ram has 800 mhz in and 800 mhz out.
I think that's how it works. Someone explained it to me once and that's what I recall. Happy to be corrected by someone who knows more though.
Why did you make 2 threads? Anyways, here is the 2nd one with your question answered: http://teksyndicate.com/forum/motherboards/ram-running-half-speed/135147
If it's dual channel it'll usually say 666 or 800 if you're reading it in whatever program, what's 666 x 2 fabio?
