RAM Questions

I recently bought this ram on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A14ZT6U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was in a hurry when i bought this and i wanted a good brand like crucial. I wanted the normal crucial ballistix sport memory but i didn't realise ate the time it said VLP and i looks a lot smaller. What is VLP and is it better or worse then this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU-Ballistix-240-pin-PC3-12800/dp/B006YG94Y2/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1369347360&sr=1-6&keywords=crucial+ballistix+8gb+1600mhz#productDetails

I also thought that it was two sticks of 4 as it showed in the picture but i now realise it is a single 8gb stick. Will there be a noticeable performance decrease in games using a single 8gb stick compared to 2 4gb sticks?

I know LP is low profile, not sure what VLP might be. Maybe low voltage too? the ones you bought are shorter and use less voltage (1.35V vs 1.5 standard). Other than that,  they appear to be the same.

There will be a performance hit in games, but in web-browsing and such, you won't notice anything. This is a bandwidth hit due to only a single channel being populated,  which effectively cuts your memory bandwidth in half compared to common dual-channel memory set ups. You can enable dual-channel memory by adding another DIMM in the second channel.  Refer to motherboards instruction manual to see how the DIMM slots are set up.

VLP stands for very low profile.
