Hey guys, so I have 16 gb of memory. NOTE that 2 of the sticks are 1333 and the other 2 are 1600 mhz. So I wanted to see how much I could push the 2 slower sticks. SO I set it to 1600 manually and started windows. No BSOD yet, but I ran memtest in windows to see how it went. My results were confusing. I ran 4 tests with 2000 mb each. Then I started up a fifth test. As soon as I started the 5th test my errors went from 0 to 8 in less than 5 seconds. I closed the 5th test. No errors. Was it just the program? or was I actually getting errors. COnfused, opened up over 1000 tabs on Chrome. yes I know. I reached 12 gb of usage but I never got an error or BSOD. So is the overclock fine or should I be concerned. ANy details needed just let me know
You wont see much of a gain in anything with the jump to 1600. If things dont work quite right 100% of the time and you get the odd lock up and so forth I would be dropping the speed back to 1333.
Try prime95 using the blend test. Sounds like it might be stable. Are the timings just set to the same as the 1600mhz set?
Run MemTest86, not P95.
Running prime using all of your ram is a great way to check for stability. Memtest is ok, I just don't like having to open multiple tests at once to test more memory. That, and I think memtest is supposed to be ran at startup to be the most effective.
MemTest is the best way to test your RAM, though. It is a live disk, yes, but if you want to test stability, it is the way to go.
