If you do get faster ram than the chipset can handle (which I don't believe is the case here), then the RAM will automatically downclock to a support speed.
When buying RAM check the mother board specs, it should always show what type of RAM is supports (eg DDR3) along with the speeds of RAM it supports (eg 1333MHz). Then you buy RAM accordingly as they also show these numbers.
Also the mobo specs will say something like "channel supported - dual channel" all this means is that two RAM slots on the mobo are desighned to work together. On a 2 slot board its just the two slots, on a 4 slot board they will be diff colored (eg 2 blue and 2 white) this means that when you buy your Dual channel memory kit youl get two sticks of RAM that you place in the same color slots (ie both in blue or both in white).
