Motherboard:ASUS Sabertooth z77 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131821)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104375)
So, I am building a pc and have a question. If my motherboard that I have selected has a 'memory standard' of DDR3 1866/1600/1333 according to newegg, will it be able to handle my RAM if it is clocked to DDR3 2400?
Will the RAM run at 1866/1600/1333 despite it's capabilities of 2400? Let me know.
Probroally a stupid question, but whatever. Thanks in advance
it will just down clock to 1866. you could take a look at these kits too

It will not operate at the advertised speed. It will only operate at 1866. But you might be able to get the timings pretty far down with that much headroom. Probably better off looking at some cheaper ram.
Alright. There is a version of the ram that operates at DDR3 1600 advertised, I suppose that would function just fine? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104362) Thanks
Quick Edit: I also found a DDR3 1866 version aswell. Thoughts? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104366
For gaming? Yes that 8GB of 1600mhz ram is more then enough.
Alright, cool. One last question, how does the Kingston HyperX Beast compare to a Corsair Vengeance? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144) They look pretty similar in terms of what newegg's information on each model states. I thought I'd ask you guys while I research a bit more. Oh, and yes, this will be for gaming. Forgot to say that.
Get the Corsair over the 1600mhz beast memory. Its running at 1.5v which is optimal for 1155, and give some OC room if you want in the future.
Ok sounds good, thanks dude
