RAID Help!

I have a question for you guys, particularly if you know a lot about RAID.

So a buddy of mine bought computer parts from NewEgg, and even though I told him to build it himself and I would walk him through it, he took it to Fry's for them to build it. Now, he has multiple SSD's (3 I think?) to be set up in RAID. now the problem is, they set it up on the worng controller. He didn't really explain, so i don't know if he had a dedicated card or if his board has 2 RAID controllers. But he says that they set it up ont he Marvell RAID controller, but he wants it on the Intel controller. So the question is, can he switch them without reformatting? What would the process be?

Thanks in advance guys, I'm really at a loss here, never done a real RAID setup.

Rebuilding the raid array on another controller will result in formatting the drives.  Marvell raid is on the motherboard.  3 ssd's? More likely has 2 setup in raid.

Raid Controllers are the pain of the Tech Guys in datacenters, when you opt-in for one controller you only can manage the disk's with that controller Brand and Model.

If you change the controller you can't read or write the data, the only solution is to rebuild the array and formating the disk's.

For Bogan, you can do some Raid Setup's with 3 SSD. Raid 5 is one of them. ;)

Alright, thanks guys! I'll pass along the bad news, shouldn't be too bad, he's only been using the computer for like a week or so, shouldn't be too much to reinstall his stuff.
