I recently watched a video where someone had two SSDs in RAID 0, and then 4 HDDs in Raid 10. He said he would use the RAID 10 array for backup. SO my question is? DOes RAID 10 have the abbility to backup a RAID 0 array?
That would be RAID 0+1 you're talking about. A RAID 10 (or 1+0) is two RAID 1 arrays in a RAID 0 configuration.
can you explain read/write speeds for ssds and mechanical please. I too am curious.
So in a RAID 0 + 1 config, you can backup a whole RAID 0 array to another RAID 1 array?
Uh... sorta. It's called nested RAID, meaning a RAID array within a RAID array. So, if you go RAID 01, your RAID 0's will be in a RAID 1.
Same goes for RAID 10, but the levels are reversed: Your RAID 1's will be in a RAID 0.
Still confused. Graph isn't doing it for me. Ha.
is there any difference in speeds though?
Not Sure. I'm just wondering if I can backup my RAID 0 with another RAID.
