AMD launched three new cards in the professional segement. The WX cards are powered by the polaris architecture increasing power efficency while increasing computer performance.
Looking at the certified applications, these cards are meant for video creation and 3D rendering applications. 5.7TFLOPS SP (WX7100) and hardware H.265 encoder will surely help with render times in video production. Then there are the usual features, 5k 60Hz support, 10-bit color, HDR support and 4x crossfire. The WX7100 consumes up to 130W, half of the W9100 power consumption.
Apart from the computing power in SP, AMD does not list the DP performance for the card on their website making me believe it can´t beat the performance of the W9100. The significantly smaller frame buffer and the smaller memory bus compared to the other top tier card makes this a second flagship on AMDs lineup, not a new one.
For heavy simulation loads and heavy CAD loads, I would advice to stick with the higher end FirePro W series cards or the Nvidia Quadro M series (consult the supported GPU list of your software first).
And as most will allready know, the new cards are blue and black.

This is my first post if this sort. Got a bit lost in writing it
WX 7100 is a drop in replacement for the W8100, and is $200 cheaper, with less power consumption. And better SP. DP is unknown but will guess that it is a similar if not slightly better performer than the w8100.
Now time will tell if I get one. If I see good OpenGL support and stable drivers I shall be there! As this 780 is starting to show it's age on the memory side of things.
Hopefully they'll pop up on Amazon over here soon, so if it doesn't work out. It is easily returned.
I thought the same. But then again, I got an "old" W8100 from work when we upgraded to the 16GB W9100s about one and a half years ago. The first most reason was the undersized VRAM on the W8100. It beats the W9100 slightly in SP but the RX 480 is close to that aswell. So I came to believe it is less compute card and more graphics card.
@weskie Unless you are working with at least two of the softwares mentioned on a daily basis, these cards are not a good option.
I dont know why but even though I wont buy one, I always find the launch workstation cards exciting. Now I'm just left with one question. Also on another note, I saw a card kind of similar to the wx 7100 called Sapphire GPRO 8200. Does anyone know whats up with the gpro series? I never even say Sapphire announce it...
