Radeon Fury Benchmarks ***RUMOR***

So yeah this is wccftech, so take this with a huge grain of salt, however with the release of the fury series so close, the chance of these being true seems to be fairly high. So here they are -

Thoughts? I would love to see AMD finally be on top with gpu's, as for as long as I have been paying attention to the market, AMD will release the "Most powerful consumer gpu" but it was always short lived with Nvidia releasing a ti or titan variant so that they could reclaim the crown. On a side note, I don't like how the 390x is preforming, it seems to be pretty weak compared to the 980, however if they price it right it could still be a hit.

if amd tries to sell it for 1k $ or more than $600 they will fail... and I will not buy it... as 295x2 is much better option.

390x = 290x

I'm a bit disappointed in that... I was hoping for more... But that could've been due to all the hype. Also, I've seen those very charts on another site, I can't remember which, but I don't think it originated with WCCF-tabloid.

all rumors guys, also its not very likely that some reviewer allready has his hands on a card that isnt even presented to the press yet.

16Th of June we will know more, cause they will get announced to the press, and then we have to wait, till a reliable reviewers getting their hands on one, to bring the real vallid content.

Not bad. So long as it is cheaper than a 980 Ti.

Rumours of the 980ti were wildly wrong (the ones I saw anyway). The 16th isn't far off, so let's just wait and see.

like I said big grain of salt, I don't think that the fury cards will be 1k as that just doesn't seem to be like AMD as the only cards that they release that are 1k have historically been their dual gpu cards.

well also i personaly dont realy care if the new flagship amd card is going to beat the Titan X or not.
The only thing that matters to me, is how it performs for the price tag its getting at.

I could see it coming in at $850 to and being 5% faster then the 980 ti. That leaves it price wise as somewhat competitive, although I think if if the 980 ti had come in at $800 like it was predicted the Fury XT hypothetical would have made more sense. Maybe the rumored air cooled version for less then the rumored water cooled version could come in at like $800, making it price to performance a tiny bit better compared to the 980 ti. Although this is all just spit balling at this point.

well if its only 5% faster then a 980Ti, and it will cost $800,-
Then i think it will be a very hard sell.

you can get 980Ti's for $650,-

I don't think 980 ti's with custom coolers will be cheaper then $700 for a long time.

yeah of course the non reference ones sitting arround $700,- price tag.
Still i think that $800,- will be a hard sell.

Not sure what AMD can do with prices, i wouldnt be suprised if they going to blow our minds.

I know they need to have a good size profit margin on these cards, so I'm scared they won't be able to afford to just undercut Nvidia this time.

The rumors about the Fury have turned out to be fairly accurate so far, such as the chip's appearance, size, stream processors, the card's length, etc. I think that this is roughly an accurate benchmark and likely to be what we see when it does launch. That said, we will see in a week how accurate they are.

You have to keep in mind that there are going to be air cooled and water cooled variants as well as a non-X version, so pricing is going to have a spread. You also have to factor in the cost of buying new technology. This is the world's first consumer good with HBM (as far as I know), so the fabs and whatnot aren't really up to snuff when compared to more established techs like GDDR5, so you pay a premium for it. I would also like to point out that the 390x shows (in this leaked benchmark at least) a 5% performance improvement over the 290x, and comes with 8gb of gddr5. That seems rather impressive to me. Everyone seems bent out of shape that the 300 series is a rehash, but honestly, this series isn't the big one for AMD. The next one is the big one. I expect to see something like 16nm, HBM (version 2.0) on many more gpus, and new cards across the board (or close to it) in the next generation. This is just getting HBM out into the wild which is why AMD's attention has been so narrowed as of late. They have been too worried about HBM (which is important for APUs and GPUs from here on out) to be worried about basically anything else for the past few years. Everything seems to be coming together for their tech finally.

If the process tech work out, next years GPUs will be beasts. FinFET tech will be great for them. High hopes :)

The pricing leaked. The top tear card is sub $400 ($399.99)

I think you're referring to This which in this case is just a rebadge and not anything new. I'd expect Newly fabricated tech (HBM) to be much more expensive

for top Fury or reheated 390x?

I dun goofed; forgot 390x /=/ fury

295x2 brings with it some issues that plague dual-GPU cards (and crossfire/SLI setups) that have yet to still be ironed out. For the most part, they run great, but not all games can even make use of dual-GPUs and thus, you're still better off with a nearly equal performing single-GPU card because you know it'll run fast in every game.

The water-cooled Fury variant I believe will be using a full waterblock, not just a simple AIO pod slapped on the GPU die, like so many other "hybrid" water-cooled GPUs on the market. They've actually put some time and engineering effort into their reference coolers this time (rumored 3-fan air cooler as well), so that also justifies a higher cost.

The 390x may not = 290x exactly. There have been many rumors flying around about AMD making tweaks and improvements to the Hawaii GPU (which will now be called Grenada in the 390/x). So don't be so hasty to jump the gun and make assumptions. Let's wait and see what they actually bring to the table.
