Alright, I have a Gigabyte Radeon 7950 that eventually decided it didn't want to render any 3D games or programs anymore. I took it in on a warranty claim and after a painful game free 2 weeks it came back. No problems were detected. It still didn't want to work so I decided to fart around in the settings for a bit and I realised it was AMD Overdrive that was the problem. Everytime I would overclock the thing it would strobe the screens, crash my computer and then decide to stop rendering anything 3D. I've had it overclocked for a few months with no issues but for no good reason it decided to stop working. I've changed drivers countless times, tried third party overclocking programs (MSI Afterburner) and it still has the same effect. I can't file a warranty claim because overclocking isn't covered under it. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen or had this issue and could help me out. My Catalyst version is 12.8 by the way. It's older but it's more stable than any other version.
Use Sapphire trixx.
Also remember that you will always get different results, and some parts simply do not OC...
Also, jot down the rest of your system, including power supply.
Little too late to change cards me thinks.
CPU: AMD FX-8150
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 7950 Overclocked Edition
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
Power Supply: CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 1000W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3
Storage: OCZ Agility 3 120GB SSD
A card that will not OC is my answer....
Or you are trying to OC without adding voltage.
... brb... Adding voltage...
._.
Yea bumb the Vcore a little, make sure the power slider is at +20 so it can use the full power it can take, i had a problem with MSI AFterburner Oc my Gigabyte 7950 though, so you could try and use Trixx (which is solid as a rock)
