Radeon 7900 XTX for inferencing, how good is it?

Hi all,

I just noticed that they are going for less than $600 at Amazon and since I’m planning on playing with AI I wonder if they are worth it.
I was planning to do it in a few months so I haven’t researched much yet. Anybody with experience using them? I understand they are not “plug&play” like Nvidia but that it’s not that complicated anymore either. And what about having 2 of these? I read the magic number is 48gb of RAM.
In terms of use more than anything would be for coding in my case, but if you can describe what they are good for besides that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Leo

Where are you seeing $600? I’d be wary…

Looks like a third party seller’s been doing flash sales on the Merc310 at times. Next 7900 XTXesup from that (Mercury, Windforce) seem to be US$ 860+.

There is an Amazon Black Friday of US$ 620 for the Hellhound 7900 XT, which is like 5% under the previous low. Unexciting but at least it’s not Prime only.

I don’t see it anymore, it was Amazon although not Prime, but I saw it first on my phone and then on my PC and I cleared cookies first just to confirm.

Oh look, I actually didn’t close that window since yesterday

And the link seems to still be working:

should I pull the trigger? I’m not interested in using it for gaming though, the games I play don’t need this kind of power

The sold by name sounds sketch af to me, along with price. I paid around the same for my gre.

Lol it does
