This seems to be a place where i can ask this.
Around a week ago i have installed Fedora on my system beside windows.
But sins I’ve got it working there are lots of system hangs to the point were i can’t even open my last opened tabs in chrome because it instantly freezes the system (audio and screen).
I’ve installed fedora this way:
- Swapped out the radeon 7 for a Vega 64
- Installed fedora
- Ran
dnf update
- Ran
dnf install kernel --enablerepo=updates-testing --best --allowerasing
- Swapped the Vega 64 for the radeon 7.
After around 30 minutes of system usage i noticed the first hang and after that I’ve had more hangs to the point were i can’t use Linux anymore
Some notes:
- gpu: radeon 7 sapphire.
- cpu: ryzen 7 2700x
- driver: not changed sins boot so it’s probably the default open source driver.
- The system hang hangs the screen and audio so i can’t tell if the system would just ran normally after this
- This is also the first time I’ve installed a linux distro on my PC
I just want to use my pc for programming when i’m running linux for gpu intensive work i use windows.
