R9 Fury or 390X [Solved]

I want to upgrade from my 270X to something faster, something faster meaning 390X or Fury (no X here).

Nvidia is not an option because I need OpenCL, Cuda will not work.

Thoughts I had:
-8GB VRAM are nice to have, but I dont think I will need that in games
-Price/Performance, wich is better?
-Does it CrossFire with the W8100 in my system or will it stay my "productivity only"-card?

Thanks for ideas and feedback!

R9 Fury as it has a huge bump in stream processors

No reason to get a 390X, get a 390 and OC it yourself, then price/performance for 390 is much better than Fury.

Let me know if you manage to find the Fury in stock somewhere.

^ I am dying, so true.

But really, Fury might be better. If anything it's worth the HBM.

That is another problem. I will sit here and wait, hit F5 every once in a while and cry...

I have been camping these two links every day:

R9 Fury X
R9 Fuxy

So far the only places that have them in stock is Ebay. If the supply keeps staying non-existent like that, I might just wait till Nano comes out.

Get the 390x unless you really feel like burning money or you have some application that needs the extra stream processors.

This is a comparison of the Fury vs the 390x the Fury X would fair slightly better but the point remains.
While the Fury X will continue to improve with driver updates; currently is just straight up horrid value for money. with a relatively small performance gap and a large gap in price AMD just messed up . . . badly.
As a additional point nether of these cards can hold their own at 4k if the Fury could it would win in my book despite its high cost. Also consider that at 1440p and above you do use more then 4gb of Vram in many games.

I stay with 1080p for the next two or three years. For now, I am looking for a place to order a Fury. Thanks for the help to anyone!

I feel like throwing some money amd's way, will probably end up getting a sapphire fury on my next pay check

A Fury/Fury X, in terms of performance, is really just Grenada with HBM and a 390x is an OC'd 390 with more stream processors.

You might as well just get a 270x. Everything else is just the 270x with more stream processors, more memory, and HBM (on some of them).

R9 390 because its just a percentage point off the 390x, and the Fury/Fury X are horrid from a price to performance standpoint and are also virtually impossible to find in stock at anything but an extreme jacked up price.

Amazon says: "Can be deliverd in 2 to 6 days" here in Germany.

The UK distribution of the Fury might be better then here in Murica. Although the pricing is something I don't really know about there, it might be more or less competitive then it is here.
