So I want to build a PC but i already have the PSU which is a Corsair CX600 and plan to buy the R9 390. I've read online about pairing those two together and some people say it's alright, some say it will blow up the whole house. The rest of my build is as follows:
Mobo: Asus H97-M
CPU: i5 4690
RAM: 16gb Kingston hyperx savage
I am stuck with this PSU and all the psu calculators i've tried showed me that i wouldn't draw more than 500W from the wall and my question is: Could I pair a R9 390 with a CX600? If not, should i consider the GTX970? I will not OC anything and playing only on 1080p but the R9 390 appeals to me a lot because I don't plan to change the GPU for maybe 3 years and the 8Gb of vRAM should do the job (at least i think) and in my country it is cheaper than the 970. I've been trying to get an answer for 2 weeks already and all I found was split opinions. Also, i've seen builds with R9 290x which is more power hungry than the 390, powered by a CX600 so now I am seriously confused. Can someone help me a bit here? I really don't know what should I do. Thanks a lot.
should be fine realy.
600W is basicly plenty for a single gpu setup.
Unless you would go with something like X99 6/8 core and overclock the shit out of it.
Then 600W would be tight.
But for your setup it should be more then enough.
the 390x is around 250W, so a bit lower than that under the average gaming load, you should be pretty fine overall with that PSU
Yeah should be fine.
600W should be plenty for a setup like that.
More than enough. i run a R9-290 on a 650w Corsair RM series PSU. those fans don't even spin. in fact i've never seen them spin. (they do on heavy loads)
Then dont sit too much on it. lol.
i don't lol. last time i've seen them spin was when i had two R9-270x cards overclocked with Crossfire Enabled. XD
Thank you guys a lot for the quick responses. It's decided then. I will buy the R9 390 and hope for the best. Finally I got an answer. This forum it's just amazing
