R9 290 Tri-X

Hello

Right now i am a very worried because my GPU is not overclocked and hits 85 degrees under load and rests at 52.

im not sure why its that hot and from other peoples experiences they are getting 75 degrees so i am not sure what im doing wrong as it has air flow.

I am Australian and it gets hot over here to about 30-40 degrees in the summer and also get pretty humid aswell

and i was wondering what can i do to lower temps down as i want it to live about 2 years at least.

Check for newer drivers perhaps? Also increase the RPM of the case intake fans to get more air circulating. Because you are in a hot country temps will naturally be higher

Your in a hot country. In summer your going to see warm temps. My GTX 780 classified is idling at 41 and max temp about 88C. Thats at 2am and NZ is not as warm as Aus. Basicly if you want to keep it cool, ramp up the fan profile while under load. aircon? ether way your in a hot country and for every degree ambient increases, your idle and max will go up by the same amount. Most benchmarks you see have ambient temps between 12c and 18c. Dont expect too much

See above

the trix software allows you to set your own fan curves

if you are willing to live with a little more noise i think you could get to your 75 degree target easy

Well i upgraded the case to a enthoo pro.

But just to ask what sort process is the best way to overclock it and make it stable i cant get over 1100 on the clock with +50 voltage in MSI after burner. Also the card is being powered by molex as the motherbord has a extra 8 pin to cpu power and a extra 6 pin to gpu power on the bord.

It's normal 85 is the higher limmit .

The only problem is your average , but if it's 30 average , that's normal too .

I'l take temps of my 290 when I get back .

I have a amd r9 290 windforce, and i also live in Australia.
No word of a lie that is exactly what i get at load and idle, so it very well could be normal.

The card was put under stress with Kombustor

That's why. Kombustor stresses the GPU to the absolute max, in fact it stresses it abnormally to give you the "Worst Case Scenario" temps. normally under a regular load it doesn't reach those temps, well at least from my experience, i have an Sapphire R9-290 Tri-X I've never seen it go above 78C.

What is the ambient temps around your PC? also what is the airflow like, i mean do you only have 2 fans and or is stuff blocking flow?

i have a enthoo pro with the 2 fans it comes with.
