So I am new to computer building even though i have had some experience also I am new to the form. What was the name before the rebranding of the r9 290 I have searched and cannot find the answer.

it isnt a rebrand. the r9 280 and r9 280x as well as some other lower end cards are but not the 290/290x.

Thanks for that :) I didn't realize. Where do you learn these things by the way? I kinda want to learn about these things so help for that as well.
Various tech sites. Around the time anything new is launched they get saturated with info on it and it is hard not to learn some stuff. Right now we are kind of in between things so maybe try looking up the road maps for amd, nvidia, and intel and inquire from there.
