R9 280x and BF4

I'm running a FX-6300 and an R9 280x, and on Battlefield 4 1920 x 1080, all settings low or off, and GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6, and a cfg file with a bunch of tweaks, I'm literally getting 55-65 frames most of the time and I can't find out why at all.

Help?

Hrmm. That's not right. My brother games on a 6300 with a GTX 770 which is only a tad bit better card than a 280x, op 1080p and he gets higher frames than that. Something is definitely wrong. I'm pretty sure he maxes settings too. I would try removing all drivers, make sure all old files are gone, reinstall, and get the newest drivers. Other than that, It sounds like it could be a problem with the card.

Sorry about the generic sort of, answer but I haven't run into a similar problem, at least not in recent memory.

Check your GPU and CPU temps, maybe they are high and either the GPU or CPU is limiting them. I had that problem with the CPU awhile back, the temps were going into the high 80s and the CPU kept clocking down to like 1500mhz. If anyone tells you your being bottle necked, they have no idea what they are talking about. If you have anymore info I would love to help you.

Cathsy could be correct this could be a thermal throttling issue, check your case fans and inlets make sure they are clean , make sure your getting enough air to GPU and CPU alike. I know I read in a lot of forums awhile back that AMD users playing BF3 had to turn thermal throttling off in bios, dangerous unless you are sure you have adequate cooling. If it is a thermal issue its just best to cure it.

I cured my problem by turning down my voltage a lot and lowering my NB voltage. I was overestimating how much I needed because people kept saying in forums that I needed like 100,000 volts to get to 4.8ghz on a 8350, come to find out I was fine at 4.8ghz at only 1.39v. =]

I've got the r9 280x with an fx6300 aswel and I run BF4 ultra settings with 4x AA at around 60-70fps average on 1680x1050. You could try downloading software to see your GPU usage in game aswel as your temperature. Same with the cpu. Maybe like CoreTemp and msi afterburner(you dont have to overclock, just look at the temps etc.) I had problems with games freezing etc with the r9 280x but that was a factory overclock issue.

Furthermore, yes temps.

My cf hd run better fps at cold start up benchmarks then steady load.

Extreme oc with out proper knowledge will kill your fps. Jay2cent is running 1400mhz on water puts out crazy numbers. If I was to do that on stock heatsink my cards would fall on its face.

Just a example.
