Questions regarding buying games on Steam

If I purchase a game on my current computer from Steam, am I able to transfer it to my other Gaming PC. I'm asking this because Arma 2 Complete Edition is $8.00 right now and I really want to get it but I don't have my gaming PC yet. Also do I need to install Steam in order to buy a game?

When I download steam on my gaming PC, will I be prompted to download Arma 2 Complete Edition since I bought it already or do I have to download it to my HDD on this computer. If I do have to install Steam and put Arma 2 Complete Edition on this HDD, then I won't bother.

Thanks

the games are linked to your account not your computer, and the store works just fine in any web browser

Ok, so if I bought Arma 2 Combined operations tonight, I would still be able to play it on my gaming PC once I get it and install steam on it?

Thanks, that cleared it up. :)

Games are linked to your Steam account.

Login to steam on your other computer, download the game, and away you go!

Ok, good. Thanks. I was hoping for that answer.

You should check out the Arma deals going on now. It's insane!

just to confirm, once you buy a game on steam, its yours forever, to be used on any PC that you log into steam on, for all of eternity, and forever.

Wrong, it lasts as long as your subscription service (the games you buy are not games, or keys or whatever, they're just subscriptions that allow you to play games on their DRM software) with Steam lasts.

Which, judging by the way it's monopolizing games on PC, is forever.

I am always right.

While I don't have a source...

I heard that if/when Steam dies Valve was just going to remove the DRM, so you could play them with out Steam...?

No? Just a bad rumor?

I think it's just a rumor, I don't know if they ever said they would actually do that.

But I'd imagine if the company ever did go under or something happened they would do *something*. They kinda would have to, everyone would get pissed.

I'm sure they would figure something out so that you could just keep the games installed or whatever and play them w/out steam.

Steam isn't a subscription service.
