Questions On Builds and Current Low Prices On Parts

I disagree with your definition of decent on boards here and ill leave it at that.

Yeah it sounds like it acts like a 970FX. Mole dependance on ram speed and speed of controllers, making the cpu’s bandwidth worth its salt.

very much so

Now if only the boards had openfirmware… lol

  • Asrock x399 Taichi €349,-
  • Gigabyte x399 Designare EX €359,-
  • Asus x399 prime pro €338,-

Now lets see comparable x570 boards.

  • Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master €380,-
  • Asrock x570 Taichi € 335,-
  • Asus x570-E Strix €315,-

Gigabyte x399 Aorus pro is even less then 300 atm.
Not the greatest vrm, but still more then fine for the 180W tdp chips up to 2950x.

theres more to a board than its VRM and quite frankly if you’re pairing a $300+ x570 board with a 3600 then im going to question your sanity.

theres much better cheap options.

That’s totally fine.
But i compare boards with similar features and decent vrm’s.
I could of course pick the cheapest decent x570 board like the Aorus Elite.
However that does not stand in any contrast towards the features that for example the x399 Designare EX offers.

So yeah, it’s fine you disagree with my definition of decent boards.
But yeah at least make a decent comparison then.
I do know what i’m looking at.

heres a decent board for well under $300 that you could use all the way up to the 3950x

lmao ok

I’m sure aremis is considering a 3600 because he wants to pair it with only the highest end VRM and features.

Lets be realistic please.

Yeah that is what i just said above.
I don’t compare a bare bones board cheapest decent x570 board,
to a full fledged x399 board like the Designare Ex.
Because that is like comparing a Ford Focus to a Mercedes S-class.

But sure there are decent cheap x570 boards out there like the Aorus elite.
But itś a bare bones board.

You cant compare TR boards to Ryzen boards period.

It doesnt make sense.

Consider whos buying and what they’re getting it for.

Theres a whole lot more to boards than just features. The bios is a major consideration with zen2 and you’re completely ignoring that aspect.

the aorus elite isnt even a bare bones board. Its got a lot of features. we could go much more bare bones than this.

Well the reality is a 3900X would be dank, so maybe a 570P would be the wrong board to choose? I don’t know much about the boards that are out. Probably going to binge GN for the next 2 weeks to catch up.

Info I needed. Thx.

You can, but still it’s a bare bones board with zero trouble shooting features etc.

In terms of price you can obviously.

If he wants to run allot of vm’s.
Then Threadripper can be a benefit in terms of memory expend ability.
However that will add to cost significantly.
But don’t get the Threadripper 1000 cpu’s because those are kinda meh in terms of performance.

But yeah like i said above, if you don’t need allot of pci-e expand ability,
then just go Ryzen.
Because the cpu’s are cheaper, boards can be cheaper.
And you don’t have to buy a quad kit of memory.
So Threadripper can be viable, but it won’t be as cheap as you might think.

If yall are gunna fight over MOBO’s and relevant info do it in the lounge please thanks.

All data is relevant to me, so take that as you will.

something like the aorus elite would be able to easily handle that.

I wouldnt get the 570p not because I dont think it would, but because I have an ASUS crosshair VIII hero and its bios is junk… so I wouldnt expect the 570p to do better.

That board I linked is not a barebones board, it has wifi and bluetooth, intel lan, decent audio, plenty of fan headers, ECC support, and if you dont want wifi or bluetooth theres an even cheaper one for like $180.

If I were building a machine tomorrow i’d probably get that or an x470 taichi

Unfortunately Msi does not really have an interesting x570 board on the market,
that is worth looking at.
Because the Msi bios is actually pretty nice.

  • Asrock bios is okayish, but still there are allot of things to work on for them.
It’s not as refined as lets say Gigabyte’s one.

  • Asus: yeah well they seem to go a bit downhill on that lately.

  • Gigabyte: is okay lately.

  • Msi; Bios has improved allot, and it’s actually pretty nice to use now days.
But unfortunately not really great boards in the reasonable priced x570 range.
The only reasonable board is the MEG Unify,
which is pretty much the same board as the MEG Ace.
However it comes with a realtek nic.
Which in my opinion for that price is UN-acceptable.

Does EVGA make ryzen boards? I’d be interested in that for sure.

I know they made an X299 DARK but dunno much else.

Reasons to go back one gen? This whole intercompatible gen’s thing is really confusing to me.

Nope.
