  1. You install windows just like you normally would. If you don't know how to do this I'm sure it would not be hard to find a tutorial on this somewhere.

  2. 850 EVO seems like a pretty good drive. I put one in my laptop a few months ago and it has worked great. Doesn't need anything fancy to work and is pretty fast.

  3. Put it where ever you want.

  4. The only thing that immediately comes to mind that you don't want to do with a SSD is run a scheduled defrag. SSDs have no need to defrag so it won't help your performance wears and out the drive faster.

Other than the defrag thing you can pretty much treat it like a regular hard drive.

So heat would not be a problem?
Other than the defrag do i treat it like a normal hsrd drive?

They generate very little heat because they use hardly any power compared to a regular drive. I think this guide has some good info if you are looking for other things you might want to tweak. The screenshots are all of windows 7 but will give you some ideas.

You might want to verify that the SSD is being run in AHCI mode, as opposted to IDE. It probably is, but its something I always like to check.

This setting is located in the bios/uefi and should be switched before the windows install.

Windows will detect that it is an ssd and turn off Defraging automatically.

I use a program called GWX Control Panel to block the pertinent updates.
