I just bought myself access to a VPS (1GB RAM, 1 core, 10GB for $3 CAD /month). Its nothing amazing spec wise, but I saw that some people are using these as BitTorrent Sync servers to replace cloud services like Dropbox and OneDrive.
I currently use Dropbox to sync data between my computers and it works well. The feature that is keeping me on Dropbox is LAN Sync. I have a 50GB bandwidth cap on my home internet so I don't want to be downloading things from the internet when I don't have to. I'm pretty sure BitTorrent sync works this way, but I just wanted to be sure. My hope is that when I save a file on one computer it goes to the others on the network over the LAN, then gets uploaded to my VPS as cloud storage (aka offsite). Anyone have any insight on this?
