Questions About a Build (Gaming)

So I'm looking into building my first gaming PC and I had a few questions.

My current computer is Lenovo y510p gaming laptop with SLI. I plan on purchasing my new PC by selling this as well as using savings. My first question is if anybody knows the best place online/in store to sell a computer like this for most money?

Onto the new PC: I live in the United States (specifically Texas) and have a budget of around $1600-$1700. I plan on purchasing as much components at a near by Micro center as that seems to be the best price but anything else I will purchase online. I already have a gaming mouse and pad. A mechanical keyboard (preferably cherry mx brown) is included in that budget as well as a monitor. I weighed both sides on the higher refresh rate vs bigger res debate on monitors and decided on higher res though I'm open to opinions. I plan on overclocking my cpu though im sticking with a hyper 212 evo for now. I may do water cooling in the future but the case I want supports it (Fractal design define r5).

I'm open to all types of gaming but in general like my games at high quality and high frames (who doesn't). I also plan on learning to code though I don't believe this affects computer components? I plan on learning linux as well and dual booting this pc with windows and linux.
1. Is this possible?
2. Do you guys know best (most trustworthy) places to get cheap windows 8.1 keys

This is the computer I've thought of so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r3XCVn

CPU Cooler: What do u think I can get my GHz to with this? Shooting for 4.0Ghz
Motherboard: Opinion on motherboard or a better option? Really just don't want it to suck/not be sustainable
Storage: Where most my questions lie. I want to put my windows os on the 850 evo and also have room to have space for some games. Is the pro vs evo worth the extra money? I want a cheap ssd to boot linux on. Recommendations? Otherwise the hard drive just for storage. Is this the best setup?
Wireless Network adapter: Recommendations of best adapter?
Fan: If I buy an extra fan thus have 3 total in the case, will that keep temps in my pc at a decent level?
Monitor: I've been browsing for good 1440p monitors at a decent price. While g sync and high refresh rates seem awesome, i don't have enough money to get a really good one ie ROG Swift. Is this monitor good though?

Any answers and or reccomendations are highly appreciated. Thanks guys!

New list

- i5 'k', good board, psu, ssd etc. r9 290 that uses a reference design so a full-cover waterblock can be had for a future loop.
- Just partition off a chunk of you hdd or ssd for linux. Dont waste money on cheap ssd like the v300 - they're terrible drives.

Get a better monitor with a higher refresh rate

212 Evo is an awesome cooler for its price and not giant like those Noctua cinderblocks lol, you're good on that one.

As long as that mobo has the features you want and matches your color scheme (if you're into that) it'll be just fine. I haven't seen any recurring problems with that board posted on the interwebz.

I'd drop the Kingston SSD (Unless you're using it for Linux boot) and just go with the 850 EVO (Pro is barely faster, just able to sustain more writes which shouldn't be a problem for you anyway), and if you can afford it, get a 2TB WD Caviar Black instead of the 1TB blue.

If ethernet connection isnt at all possible, then I would go with a PCIe wifi adapter. This is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GMPZ0A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Might want to jump up to a 750W PSU if you want to SLI that 970 in the future, EVGA's SuperNova PSU are pretty much as good as it gets.

Fractal case fans are completely silent but barely move any air lol, I have the Arc Midi R2 and replaced all the stock fans with CM Jetflo 120s, much louder but very effective.

I have this Qnix monitor and love it (though I have the matte version for reduced glare), 1440p and 120Hz OCable (but not with the included cable, get an aftermarket gold-plated DVI-D cable). Just recently went on sale for $250 on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/131425259171?rmvSB=true

Have fun building :)
