I have all of my stuff imaged on a couple of hard drives :D VCD or ISO and just mount the disk to install.
Yesh, use Easy Backup Wizard, ImgBurn, or anything to make ISO files with. xD
I got myself a Blu-ray drive because I see myself needing and using it. If you think you need one, then I'd say get one.
Personally I like having it because then I can go pick up a 3D movie, pop it in, put on my Nvidia glasses and enjoy some 3D awesomeness :D
I'm not sure because I haven't bought a hard copy of a game since FFXI (probably a decade?), but couldn't you just download all those online and use the cd key off the box?
I made ISO's of all my disks and stored them on my home server, now anyone in my house has free access to them all the time. I can even access them over the web if I'm away from home. Its quite handy, I don't think I've used my ODD in my computer for over a year now.

not only am I getting a dvd burner for my desktop, i'm gonna take a floppy drive out of an old, dead dell I got at home, and stick that in it... but then again, i'm getting the only mobo I know of that still has a floppy header.... plus round IDE cables aren't too hard to manage... I gotta transfer my grandpa's floppy archive to something more modern... while I still can... maybe put it all in a 2.5" hdd....
