Question about Ubuntu Gnome Root

New Linux user here. I created the account using the ubuntu gnome installer and now have a working desktop. I know it is good security practice to create a separate account that is not root. My question is this, is this account the root and do I need to create a separate account?

During the installation process you created an admnistrator account. That account can get root privileges by using sudo. There's no need to create a different account if you're the only one using the pc.
