Question about my receiver

Hey guys,

I have recently installed opensuse on my system and have a question about attaching my receiver for my headphones. When I run windows, I have my main screen attached via Displayport cable to my gtx 970, my second screen attached via dvi-hdmi (dvi in the card, hdmi in the monitor) to the 970, and i have a yamaha rx-v371 receiver attached via hdmi cable to my gtx 970. I am running my headphones off of the receiver and it works after i install the nvidia drivers in windows. I was wondering about if there is a way to get this to work in linux. If i need to buy a toslink cable and run the receiver off of the port on my motherboard i will, but i would like to not have to buy that cable. Any suggestions. Also, I think I am going to replace opensuse with manjaro. Idk if the set up will be the same between those 2, if one works and the other wont i'll use that one. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Make sure it's not muted in alsamixer.

There is HDMI Audio support built in to ALSA and PulseAudio. Check your Audio settings and make sure the HDMI Audio option is your prefered audio output device.
