Question About Active Adapters

Hey everyone, I have a quick question about active display adapters.

 

What is the difference between this adapter - http://www.ncix.com/detail/startech-com-displayport-to-dvi-active-d2-63493.htm

and this one -  http://www.ncix.com/detail/startech-com-displayport-to-dvi-dual-87-54335.htm

 

I have the adapter in the first link (The one without the usb cable) and for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work. 

I have a msi hawk 5770 and was wondering if you guys might know why the adapter isn't working with my video card.

The difference between the two is that the first one is single link DVI output while the second one is dual link DVI. Dual link is required for WQXGA (2560x1440/1600) resolutions.

Have you been able to contact Startech support to see if they could offer any assistance or been able to test the DP output on a DP equipped display?
