Quad M.2 SSD Cards with a PLX chip - An option for getting your PCIe lanes back

Happy New Year, I am curious about your experience with the PLX card. Have you received it?

I did and it’s not a PLX card  The screen on the board stated 4x4x4x4 bifurcation, so there’s no PLX chip on that board. At all. False/misleading advertising, but hey, it’s Aliexpress so I kinda expected such.

How annoying is that? The buried, misleading, or just false is constantly getting worse.

in Feb 2025 when this post was made, this was indeed the case. Now, six months later, I am looking for high capacity SATA SSD and it seems like they no longer exist. Its actually cheaper now to use 8TB NVMe, specifically the Western Digital Black SN850X for $600 USD, than any SATA drive. Bonus: M.2 drive does not require extra SATA cables or power connectors…

But I have SATA cables . . .

SATA M.2 doesn’t need SATA cables either
