QNAP to Unraid and Back Again!

Hello all! I’m new so please go easy on me. I have a good friend who is transitioning from DJing to photography, and wants a reliable archive for customer photos and files. My thoughts were a NAS (byte my bits said good things about the QNAP TS-262) in his office, and then run a backup to that every night to my Unraid server here at my house for him.
I’ve never personally worked with QNAP, but I would imagine there’s something to allow cloud syncing from his devices, right? And what about a good program to sync from QNAP to my NAS? I backup all my critical files to OneDrive using Duplicacy.
Thoughts? And thanks!

I do not have experience with qnap but do with synology.
I agree your friend should look for a low maintenance / reliable “onsite” sas/nas. Just as important for a business is a good “offsite” backup plan. Using a friends home nas (IMO) should not be offered or accepted for a business backup.
Synology has applications built in for backups AND they offer offsite, comparatively cost effective storage with revisoning and other features. Their apps offer flexibility to use other offsite storage options like amazon, google, backblaze. I would suggest looking into a paid offsite backup that supports dedupe and revisioning.

Enjoy and best of luck!

Thanks!
I agree that in most cases a friend’s home wouldn’t be acceptable, but this is the friend who is the executor of my estate should something catastrophic happen to me. So I think I could give him some data on my server. He’s more like a brother.
I quickly glanced at Synology’s packages…and it looks like its around $500/year for their offsite service. Yes…it’s a business, but it’s also not going to be a very profitable one being something he’s going to dabble and do part time. I think if the choice was $500 for offsite or free for nothing, the choice would be free. Especially since it is only archives photos and nothing mission critical.
