PVR/Steam Streaming Machine

Hello all. I am new to the forums and I figure this is a great place for advice. I hope this is the right sub-forum for my questions. My situation is that I am finally moving into my first home and I am looking to create an all media center. I would like to have a HTPC that I can use to stream Steam games as well as movies and TV shows. So I have a few questions regarding the best setup. First question is: "Should I build a NAS and use it as a PVR?". I have been researching many NAS builds and I think I know what hardware I will use. So my next question is: "What software is the best to turn it into a PVR?". I have watched the video on FreeNAS and many others and feel like this is the best solution. So my last question is: "What hardware should I use for the streaming machine?" I would like to keep the build under $600 if it is possible. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

your nas should just be your nas

turn into PVR? you're gona need a turner card to capture video from outside sources

search for 600 dollar builds, any of them will be adequate.
