Putting Linux On an Acer Aspire V5 122P-0408

So I tried to install Ubuntu Gnome 16.10 on this laptop. It wouldn't detect the installation USB, so I took out the SSD and used my desktop to install on the Drive. Now the UEFI reports that there is a hard drive, but it doesn't see the operating system. I tried booting the drive on my desktop, and it worked fine. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I'm not a genius but it sounds like this might be an issue with an outdated bios/uefi. Maybe you can try updating that? Another good experiment would be plugging the wiped SSD into your desktop and see if the live image can see the hard drive there. If it can then it's most likely an issue with your bios or other weird thing on the laptop

I booted my desktop off of the SSD. I will try updating the uefi

So I tried using UnetBootin instead of YUMI and it worked fine.

Ah, yeah those tools can be finicky. My go to tool is rufus
