Public Open source internet possible?

Wow, sorry I killed this discussion.

Who wants to create an open source internet?

I’d be up for create some tunnels and run bmx7 on them. bmx7 is the mesh routing protocol they use on Libremesh.

Time for new internets!

Do you mean that bmx7 is a good replacement for packet routing via BGP, or that it’s just for wireless mesh setups?

Personally, I avoid wireless and mesh stuff like the plague, I’d rather have an Ethernet connection any day.

The original Batman-adv is a layer 2 mesh, BMX6/7 is at layer 3. Batman is the switch, BMX is the router. BMX has lots of features that enable it in a adhoc environment. It will forward routes from other protocols, so you could mix it like they do with interior vs exterior BGP. One of the neat features of BMX that I heart is that it will only route your traffic over trusted nodes, so adversaries can’t intercept your traffic in the middle.

Hey all, I set up a yggdrasil network at home in case anyone wants to jump into open source networking

It’s a peer to peer IPv6 network, it’s quite new and awesome!

Hey, any updates on this? Yggdrasil seems pretty cool, but what about an ad-hoc aspect to it?
