So recently I heard on one of THE TEKs that ps/2 mice is better because it interrupts CPU, unlike USB, for which CPU has to poll. This way ps/2 mice puts less load on CPU plus response time, AFAIU, should be better.
But after searching through Amazon I can't really find any ps/2 gaming mice - all of high-end ones are USB.
How come? Should I even bother with trying to find ps/2 mouse?
You have to make sure that the mouse you get can support the ps2 adapter, from what I am readying. You need: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200976 which is kind of pricy, for what it is. Your call. Others might be able to provide further insight or just tell me that everything I said is complete bs. I guess we will see
according to this ps/2 is really old and going to be phased out eventually. my current motherboard has only one ps/2, while "i remeber those days" when there were usually two - one for keyboard, another for mouse.
bnsfup1, that thing is pricy indeed. I would rather spend that money on a really good USB mouse. which I am gonna do =)
I don't think PS/2 will be cut out as soon as you think. a LOT of high end keyboards use PS/2. Mine, not so much, because with 1000+Hz polling rates of higher end mice, it really isnt needed.
