Prowlarr, Radarr, Sonarr, etc.: School a noobie?

Can somebody fill me in on how these are supposed to work and what role each one plays?

As I understand it, Radarr, Sonarr, etc. are used to sort through and choose different types of media to download.

Prowlarr is used to handle the downloads, themselves, from the different sources, and it connects to a download client like Qbittorrent or deluge for torrents.

What else do I need? From what I gather, I need a usenet subscription… Is there one that is better than the other?

Check out the official wiki on all these ‘arr’ applications. Once you know which you’d like to try first, use a Search Engine to find a YT video guide for them.

usenet is optional.

I use jellyseer (overseer) to request something. sonarr/radarr then check with jackett (you should maybe use prowlarr here) to search existing sources, and that is sent to qbittorrent.
