So I’ve asked about my older speakers in the past and I’m wondering if there is a proper test other than the built-in driver test from your audio device or within Windows ?
I think both of my setups are having some kind of issues with the built-in amplifiers.
Really playing back audio like music or playing a game seems like the best test along with the built-in test, is this correct ?
So it appears that some of the channels and/or the speaker outputs have stopped working or is outputting at a very low volume.
I’ve installed a Creative Labs Soundblaster PCIe card in my gaming rig and disabled the onboard audio.
Everything seemed to be correct and sounded great until about a week or so ago.
Disconnecting the audio cables and inserting them again doesn’t change anything.
I also have an older USB audio device for notebooks, it’sa Startech device that uses a Cmedia audio codec I believe and can test with this too to confirm.
I may end up just finding another 5.1 speaker system to test with as now I’ve found some generic no-name brands available, some use only analog input and other have this plu bluetooth and/or optical inputs.
One speaker system is based on an older Cambridge Soundworks design, it was branded by Creative Labs back in the day.
The second is a some what newer Logitech set, both have a powered sub with satelitte speakers and both are analog only.
Any tips/tricks on testing ?
Thanks.
