I currently have three projects that I would like to do before the year is up.
Upgrade my iPod classic with an iFlash mod.
Do testing on my 5700 XT stock vs Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet and Kritical Pads thermal pads in an SFF case.
Same as 2 but with a 3080 Ti in a mid-tower case.
If the logged results would interest anyone, please vote for the ones that you are most interested in.
Edit: I wanted to create a poll…
For the GPU testing I will be logging all data through HWinfo64 with the default 2000ms polling rate. I will present findings for easy consumption via screenshots of GenericLogViewer (an officially recognized “add-on” to HWinfo) along with an archive of all raw data files. The main focus is to see what difference the Kritical Pads make, as there is no real empirical data, just a bunch of hearsay.
I would genuinely like to know if anyone is even remotely interested before I spend time logging data.
KryoSheet for the 3080 Ti will be here this week. It’s my daily driver, so testing will be swift. I’m going to be logging the data whether anyone is interested or not, so I am still going to post the results, for science, in a dedicated post along with methodology.
Does anyone know of a good chart creation program? GenericLogViewer isn’t very customizable for actual presentation and I’m not getting as much control as I want from LibreOffice. It would need to be able to import CSV files. Edit: I’m looking to do something similar to what Gamers Nexus does for their frequency line graphs.
I have stock testing done. I’ll be taking apart the 3080 Ti, cleaning it and applying the Kritical Pads and KryoSheet tomorrow, then more testing on Sunday/Monday. If all goes well I’ll then parse data throughout next week.
Well, things didn’t go well. The KryoSheet has my GPU Temp and Hot Spot Temp at a delta of 16C when at stock it was at most a delta of 7C. I’m thinking the Kritical thermal pads are a little too thick and not allowing the KryoSheet to make full contact.
So, tomorrow I’ll disassemble again and replace the KryoSheet with Kryonaut paste. I will proceed from there.
After triple checking the mount for the KryoSheet, the hot spot delta was still 16C. After applying the Kryonaut paste, the delta is back down to 7-8C. I don’t know if I received an outlier sample of the KryoSheet, but that was certainly abnormal from what I’ve seen on YouTube and user accounts on Reddit (I know, massive grain of salt there).
Testing will now be on the Kritical thermal pads only and how viable they are as an aftermarket solution.
