I recently got into the Project Spark beta for Windows 8.1. Figured I would share some of my thoughts, and wonder if anyone else has gotten in and has any.
First off I will go ahead and state that even though I have a PS4, this game is quite possibly a game that can pull the Xbox One ahead. The ability to create custom levels will be a huge bonus for the Xbox community.
I dabbled for a couple hours in the tutorial and outside the tutorial to see exactly what is possible. Through this, I was able to make a squirrel be the main player character, have a goal of collecting treasures and have an enemy horde attack the player. This was all done in game, by simply placing objects and editing them in their "Kode" editor, which is essentially just a when statement. "When this happens --> Do this"
The included image is the base of what I created in the little time I put into it. As well as the When - Do page for the Kode. This is the "Swimming Fish" default Kode, that allows the Brin Fish to swim.
Curious as to what others think about this. It is a really easy way to make something, and I can see great potential in this for people with more creative minds than I have. This easily allows someone with just creativity to create something great with no prior knowledge.
The only real problem I have though, is in the picture you can see under my name some coins. These are used to buy certain assets to use in your design. However, you get these coins and level up by doing certain "challenges" of sorts. For example, one was to simply re-scale 5 objects.
