Processor Upgrade: 2006 imac

I have an imac here. As far as I know it has a ZIF socket in it. The current chip is a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo. Would it be possible to change that chip out for, say, a 2.8 GHZ? Or a 3.2? I have done this on my hackintosh laptop and OS X didn't absolutely freak out (it just down clocks the chip to meet specs that are built in. I WILL be fixing that.)

From some quick searches on Google it seems you can. The only downside I see is the 2006 iMac has a SATA interface so only 1.5GBPS for the hard drives.

You'll also need a firmware update to increase the RAM limit in the system.

I have a velociraptor drive in it, I really do not care.

Can you post or PM me the links? I am a bit incompetent ATM. (see my last post) Super burned out and I can't find anything XDD

Sure thing, I'm wiped out as well.

I wonder if I could use a P9600.... ;hmmm

Still looking at this. Accidentally made a duplicate thread kek
