Problems with stalker series

Ive been having issues getting any of the stalker games to change resolution, I go into the settings and change it to 1080p and hit apply then the game crashes. Any recommendations on how to fix this? 

My specs

4770k, r9 270x, 32gbs of patriot viper 3 ram, 1tb hdd, and win 8.1

Could be several reasons, but luckily i spent 2 minutes on google for ya!
