Problems with GTX 670 Sli (Gigabyte OC Edition)

Hey guys,

I have recently gotten back to pc gaming after having a 3 year hiatus, and I bought myself a setup that I thought would "blow-my-mind-away-so-much-I-would-never-own-another-console-ever- again"

what I bought are:

CPU: 8350 AMD 8-Core Vishera @ Stock 4GHZ

CPU COOLER: Corsair H100 CWCH100

MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

RAM: 16GB G. Skill Sniper @ 1866MHZ

GPU: 2x Gigabyte GTX 670 on SLI @ Stock

PSU: Rosewill Fortress 750W 80+ Platinum

Case: Rosewill Armor-Evolution Mid-Tower

Drive: LG Drive

1.) My first problem is that I didn't looked at the specs of the Sabertooth when I picked the Ram and it looks like that the G.Skills aren't compatible with the MOBO because it was only reading it @ 1333Mhz. Do I have to up the voltage?

2.) I downloaded FRAPS and I kind of expected results that are similar to other benchmark test since my setup is @ or near what most benchmarking sites would use (with the exception of having an SSD). I've only transferred over a couple of games from my Laptop but Battlefield looks like it was maxing at around 80-100fps (ok, but I've seen an Asus GTXC 670 SLI @ stock go around 135-150fps)....

But the real thing that is bothering me is the Far Cry 3 performance, loading up Far Cry indicates 60fps, everything is on Ultra btw, but at gameplay it initially hovers at 50, but drops to 30 and at some point during doing missions, it was dropping to 20-and even single digits...

***My computer intellect isn't probably as good as any of you guys but I know my way around the PC***

I've downloaded the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.

Confirmed that the SLI setup is being acknowledged by the Device Manager

Downloaded EVGA Precision and targeted the FPS to "MAX"

Updated the Sabertooth 990FX Drives from the Asus Website.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys will advice.

P.S.

I bought Far Cry 3 in CD and play it through the U-Play... I don't know if this helps but man, its definitely not Steam or Origin. Was wondering if I can switch it through Origin or Steam by using the same CD Key?!"??

FRAPS can take up to 20 frames away from your pc

The RAM is running at the standard voltages your motherboard kind of expects. Instead of leveling up the voltages, you should enable XMP to bring the voltage and clock speed up to the appropriate settings.

CPU might be bottlenecking you a bit, so you could Overclock it, and should see better results.

What i have noticed, might not be relevant, but try recording on a seperate hard-drive, see if you get the same results.

Oh, make sure you put the dual Graphics cards in First and Third slot of the PCIex16.

AS for the RAM, it should support the memory at 1866 and you can change it manually in bios,

ah, here it is.

As with all RAM the SPD settings are to insure the PC will boot so if you buy RAM rated faster than 1333 MHz. you will typically need to go into the BIOS and manually set the frequency and latencies and then save these settings and exit for higher frequency operation. -AMD4ME
