Hey guys
I just got a refurbished dell e 7450 for 400 euros (a real steal), but when I plugged the charger in for the first time I got an error saying :
“AC power adapter type and wattage cannot be determined…”
or something similar. I noticed that the laptop came with a non-original charger
Do I have to buy a new one? In windows the battery info says that power is avaible but the battery is not charging. What can I do???
Thanks in advice
Check the specs on the generic charger, make sure its within spec of your laptop. You can always get a new generic charger or one from dell. You could also hit it up with a multi meter as well.
Yea most likely wrong voltage or amperage. Most dells are 19.5v at 3.34 or 4.6 amps (65w / 90w). Usually can pick them up for cheap on ebay.
@mutation666 @Big_Al_Tech just to let you know, the old charger was not compatible (18.5V)
got a new one, now it's working fine.
