Hey guys,
I have been using Armory as my offline wallet for some time now.
I recently tried to open my wallet and I got a strange Visual C++ Runtime error so I decided to perform a clean install.
Now I cannot open Armory anymore.
Is there anyway I can recover my wallet with another application or fix Armory because I have some money in it?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
I got a problem like that as well but for bitcoin-qt. I made bitcoin-qt work again by deleting everything in the Bitcoin folder, except the wallet.dat file. Doing this will force bitcoin-qt to download the blockchain. Be sure to backup the Bitcoin folder which holds wallet.dat.
After I fixed bitcoin-qt Armory would not work properly so to retrieve my Bitcoins I did this:
1. Start Armory in offline mode.
2. Open your wallet.
3. Click "Backup Individual Keys" on the right.
4. Copy the PrivBase58 keys into a Blockchain.info wallet using the "import private key" feature, one by one. You might need to remove the spaces from the key to get it to work.
5. Your funds will appear in the Blockchain wallet, and you can send them on their way.
I got this from IntrepidMiner at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=314863.0
Warning: Blockchain.info has has been made closed source, and we can no longer verify that their system is secure. The open source code that is always mentioned is outdated, also.
Be careful, because many people have lost their funds in blockchain.info.
If you were to copy paste your error message I can probably tell you what is going on. Good luck.
Thanks for the help but I already redownloaded the whole blockchain without success.
I cannot start Armory nor the normal version nor the offline version.
It just won't start, no error no nothing. The logging shows nothing because the application just won't launch :s

Try reinstalling msvc9 64bit redist
That or dl and install the free msvc 2010 express (make sure to install 64bit binaries)
Removed everything c++ related and installed:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package x64
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package x64
And I still cannot open Armory.
I tried to find the Express version but could not find it.
Okay so I am not positive what is causing this. The errors you're reporting look to be related to a bug back form March/April time period of this year. Should not be happening.
If your machine is buffy enough, try making a linux virtual machine and loading the blockchain through there and running armory from your VM.
Otherwise you can try a program called "Revo uninstaller", which will go through registry and purge everythign dealing with Armory. Just make sure you manually back up your wallet file before doing so! You wallet file is located in:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Armory
You can try to also email your log file to etotheipi@gmail.com
I wish you luck, dude.
(Also if Armory Offline works, you can export your private keys and import them into a wallet like Electrum (SP), which hosts the blockchain online, but you don't have to download all 14 GB yourself. It might work if Armory keeps messing up.
Your wallet file is going to be named (something).wallet
Awesome, I was able to backup my data via Ubuntu VM.
What is your recommendation to use as a wallet now?
Something that's more stable than Armory preferably :)
Grats. Glad you got something working.
Armory SHOULD work perfectly. Try installing it in Ubuntu, should work just fine let me know. :)
Otherwise, Try using Electrum if you are so adamant.
