Problems Migrating to SSD

So I installed an ssd into my laptop and I tried to move Windows 8.1 to it. What I did was reset Windows through the settings and used Samsung's migration software to clone the drive. It claimed it would format the old drive after but rather curiously, it didn't change it at all. Windows claimed my boot drive was the ssd, so I assumed the original instance of Windows was no longer needed. I proceeded to format the old drive. I left and came back 10 minutes later. Explorer was gone, so I tried to start it again. Task manager was gone. I restarted. The computer would not boot. I used the hp recovery media and it made 2 partitions. One called System with the factory instance of Windows that was only 100 gbs in size. The other being a 2gb partition called BUILD. How do I configure it so Windows is on the ssd and the ssd only and the old drive can be empty.

the mbr would have been on the hdd.

download clonezilla and clone hdd, restore on ssd then use samsung magician to enable trim etc.

this is the easiest way (you can make an mbr tgrough windows disk, you probably didnt need restore disk)

press a certain key combination when using windows disk to get cmd up and then you can run tools to fix it
