Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI AER Error

I built this PC last year and just rebuilt it and I am still getting this error on Fedora 37. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance!

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX w/ 256GB RAM

Running 4x Samsung PRO 980’s in btrfs raid0 I was getting the same error on Fedora 36 when I was running them similar configuration but just using them as LVM. Also, performance both raid0 or LVM isn’t as impressive as I thought it would be (hdparm result below was virtually the same for both) if someone has a better recommendation when using that PCIe card that has the 4x m2 slots that comes with this board.

I redid my 4x SSDs with zfs and they’re performing pretty well now but this hardware error still remains. All I can find on search engines is either to suppress the error or it may be a setting on the motherboard. I am looking for someone to shed some light please. Happy Holidays!

Hey @tricsta, I believe I am getting similar issue as you, although mine might be more pervasive. Hopefully we can help each other figure this out.

Differences for me are that I am running a 5975wx, have two of the M.2 cards with 5 980 PROs, 2 P5800X Optane drives via a PCIe to U.2 expansion board, and a 6900XT graphics card.

I have been attempting to diagnose the issue by swapping in and out the hardware I have. When I have only the graphics card installed in slot 1 with no others, I don’t get any errors. Card runs to full utilization according to radeontop in games.

When I start moving the graphics card in solo down PCIe slots, the errors below start to appear to a small amount and quite infrequently.

When all hardware is installed, every ~6 seconds I get some grouping of messages similar to what you have. In my case below is what I am getting.

In attempting to move the hardware in and out to diagnose, I get various issues in addition to the above such as not getting any video or a complete inability to boot. The current state I am in now, I cannot boot with any of the 980s or Optane drives/cards connected to the system.

I have swapped the motherboard and remounted the CPU once. All ram tests pass fine. Same issue persists despite.

Hi, I was able to mostly resolve this by simply downgrading the PCI Slots to Gen3 in the BIOS.

Did it increase performance for you do you know or did it simply suppress these warnings?

For GPUs, downgrading from PCI 3 to 4 is slower by about 5% in most benchmarks.
I didn’t notice that much of a performance difference for the Hypercard, but I don’t really use it other than for backups because the latency/IOPS are so bad.

Above all else, it seems that disabling all C-States in the BIOS is what made the most difference for me performance-wise.

It’s ludricrous the amount of tweaking I had to do to get this platform working consistently smoothly under Windows.
