Presentation Software for IT people?

I have to do a fairly important presentation at work and so thought I should find something better than the normal PowerPoint to do the presentation with. I have found Prezi and a some other presentation software, but they all seem like they are really basic, it has probably been 10 years since I did much in PowerPoint and I really can't see that they have added and changed anything in it.

I was hopping at least microsoft might have added their deep zoom, and pivot view technology to PowerPoint and maybe I could link in some excel graphs and do some html mark-up. I have seen the presentations microsoft does at their conferences and they don't look like they where build with PowerPoint. Am I missing something? I am hoping there is a developer or advanced feature ribbon that is turned off by default as to not confuse management types, or has presentation software just not changed much in the last few years? Anyone have any suggestions for good presentation software?

I think Articulate Storyline 2 might be another option for you. Not sure how well it applies to your situation, but its the first thing that popped into my head. Worth a look at the very least. The biggest downside is that I don't think its free to use like Prezi it, however I could be wrong.

Microsoft have been focusing on their PowerBI toolset which plugs into PowerPoint and Excel (PowerView, PowerPivot, PowerQuery etc.), but this is really about performing flashy data analysis by pulling data from external sources rather than slick presentations like Prezi. It might still be worth a look depending on your requirements though.
