How much better is powerline over wireless and is it worth it? From where i am my internet is really spotty.
Depends on the powerline and wireless. Dual-band Wireless N at 5GHz and higher speed powerline are very close in terms of performance. Powerline is ever so slightly more stable, but not by much. Wirless is generally more versatile than powerline: lots of devices nowadays don't even support wired networking. Wirless also tends to be cheaper. Finally, Wireless AC is far better than powerline, it's just crazy expensive. My advice: go with wireless over powerline.
Using powerline can be concerning pending on the wiring inside the house. Wireless would be the way to go in most cases
it isn't better. Period. Try the new 802.11 ac protocol wireless routers for higher penetration (only helpful if you have recieving devices for ac, otherwise it will only be as effective as dual-band wireless n. Good luck.
wireless vs powerline depends on the scenario. wireless doesn't always work just like a powerline connection doesn't always work, or sometimes you require both. ie: you might patch(uplink) a powerline from a router upstairs to a router downstairs in a basement to get wireless down there.
I use a mix in my house/office and both are fine I guess if one had to be taken away I would let wireless go. With EoP remember that often it needs to be on the same power ring and you can not use power extension bars
