PowerColor r9 390 16GB edtion

Wow this actually exists! http://powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=597 This is the 390 by power color, but its special. ITs basically two 390 8GB GPUs on a single 3 slot card. This equates to a insane total amount of GDDR5, 16GB. Now what i thought would be interesting is if you got two of these so therefore you have basically 4, 390s effectively each handling 4BG of GDDR5. Im not sure how it would perform compared to other cards like the 980 ti or Titan X. tell me what you think..
Btw it has four 8 pin connectors and they say to have a minimum of 1000 watts for the PSU, plus it comes with a fancy Razer Ouroboros mouse.

Is it released now and available for purchase? And what about the drivers. Or is more CES nonsense?

8*2 not 16gbs of VRAM

Also you need probably a 1200W PSU to properly power that beast

it'll outperform a single 980ti where dual GPUs work naturally, but I think you'd be better off with just a single Fury card instead of it

@coriolus

it's 600 at newegg right now, comes with a $120 mouse, and has a rebate that probably won't work

BUT no refunds, so you buy it you're stuck with it again not a bad buy but the power requirements are akin to the 295x2

I don't think the guys in the reviews knew what kind of card they were buying

Yeah its already released at the 980 ti price point. Its been out for a while. The drivers I am pretty sure are fine..maybe.

There are some 390x crossfire benchmarks, basically the same thing minus 10% performance or so

yeah it seems reasonable for the price point.

No, actually an 850W will do just fine. You need 1200W for four 390s.

You're going to murder that poor 850W PSU if you try to run this card on one, maybe if it has a really strong 12V rail, but mostly you're going to want plenty of overhead for it, you'd want like a 1500W PSU for 2 of them, if you're willing to spend this much on a GPU, you should really invest into a solid PSU as well for it

No you absolutely will not. 850W = 70A 12V. This card needs 58A.

Trust the person who has run 4 x 34A GPUs on a 1000W PSU, you would do absolutely fine with an 850W.

I'm sure that's the minimum, and it may work fine, but there's no reason to try and cheap out on a PSU with a rig like this, you're better off with something that has plenty of headroom

Worst case scenario a single 390 peaks at 323W, 2 of them peaking is going to cut really close to the edge of that 850W PSU and put a lot of stress on it, but obviously this would be a rare event if it ever happens under a typical gaming load

When you have to underclock an AMD GPU to get it to work, well, do the math at this stage. Fix the drivers, and fix Crimson. What does running 3x980Ti's gain you over running one? Never seen a review on that yet.

That's a forced load and is out of spec. Any other site will plant the 390 firmly into the 280 - 300W range, and not much further. Going by the rated maximum that the card is capable of is not entirely a good measure of power usage, because if you plan to push your GPUs that hard then your PSU is the least of your concerns.

A larger power bill.
