I can get a PowerColor R9 290 PCS+ for just less than $400 on a special. (I'm not from the US or in Europe, so it's really cheap for us, for comparison the new 970's are around $550-$600 and 980's $800-$900 here).
I was wondering how many of you have had experience with Powercolor GPU's or products? Good or bad experiences? I don't want to drop $400 on something that turns out to be unreliable (I'm a student so $400 is a lot).
I tried doing some research but I found it difficult to find anything on it's reliability. It seems like a pretty good card, but I'm hesitant to buy parts from relatively unknown or lesser known brands. This is my first proper gaming PC I'm buying so I want to do it right.
can be a hit or a miss with the pcs+ There where a few bad batches from the early models. who had allot of issues with the vram, and blackscreens. The later batches seem to be better. Basicly its very rare if you still catch a first batch card. But yeah in a country on which hardware is not stocked that much, it could a potentional hit or mis.
If you could get a sapphire TriX for the same money, then i would definitely recommend that.
Powercolor is good if you grab their "Devil-13" Models of their GPU's I haven't heard anything bad about those specific Brand of their GPUS but everything else its very mixed.
If you are looking for Good Quality Brands in AMD consider Sapphire or MSI. Sapphire's Tri-X Series/ Vapour-X or Toxic Series are usually the top tier AMD Cards you can get ahold of. Minus MSI's Lightning Card which is Usually the Best.
I was looking at the MSI and Sapphire, but they're out of my price range. The PowerColor is on a crazy $200 dollar off special. That's pretty much the only reason I'm considering it.
