Power supply, which one to pick

Hi guys,

I'm am new to the entire "pc-gaming world" and planning to build a gaming pc. I've looked all over the internet on guides etc. and are confident that I can make one. The only problem that I run in to is what power supply I need. I know that the 80+ is very important, but the problem is the wattage, how much do I need??

My planned build is:

Case: corsair 400R

Motherboard: Asrock z77 extreme 4

CPU: i5 2500k (hoping to overclock to ±4,5 ghz

CPU cooler: corsair h100

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb @1600 mhz

SSD:  OCZ Vertex3 128 gb

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500gb

Graphics Card: still doubting between GeForce gtx 670 amp edition from zotac or a reference gtx 680

So, here is my possible build, any suggestions on the powersupply would be awesome and comments on build would be welcomed as well:)

In my opinion, Corsair CX750 should be more than enough.

Or XFX Pro 750W. I'd rather go with XFX, Seasonic or Antec.

your going to want to aim for around 650 -750 watt. Since you have a pump and a pretty decent system i would suggest getting a 750 watt just to be on the safe side. however if you find a 650 watt its going to be just fine. In fact you might find the 650 to be more efficent at idle and under laod which means you save power in the long term.

Thanks for the quick reactions guys!!:)

Another thing, if i decide to upgrade to dual 670's/680's will the 750 be enough for me?

http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/ i should have linked you to this earlier,

but i would say that a 750 watt is going to be needed if your going to have 2 cards. Keep in mind also that if you decide to do any overclocking that you may need to look for a higher psu again, but a decent 750 watt will be just fine (silver or better).

I wouldnt usually recomment 650 watt when using two graphics cards of 660 teir or higher

Thank you very much guys, loved the help:)

Decided to go with a 750 watt modulair from corsair (love the brand) and when upgrading to dual graphics I will probably change to a better one, so thank you very much for all the awesome responses:)
