I just received a corsair tx650 power supply for the holidays, i was planning on buying a gtx660 already but my question is if i get another gtx660 in the future would i be able to run them in sli, and not work the power supply to hard. i have an i5 3570k with one kingston 120gb v200 ssd (planning on picking up a hard drive), and 5 fans.
Do i have enough power? i see other builds online with the same setup, but none that i have seen use a 650 watt.
thanks
Well first food for thought. Fans impact on a PSU are so low you may as well not even consider them a factor.
If you get another, you could run it sure. Though depending on the efficiency scale the tx650 has you may be looking at a consistent 85% power usage, keyword "may".
As far as I am concerned you would have no trouble running that off of a tx650 but i'm pretty sure that is all you would be able to do. Sli and Crossfire enjoys eating your psu for some reason.
If you want to be safe get an 800w, but I personally do not think you need it.
Thanks!
yes, i do know fans require little power. And i don't care if the fan on the power supply has to ramp up a little, i am fine with the noise. thanks again!
